"Large Bronze Bell"

Cambodia
Bronze Age, ca. 2nd century B.C.-2nd century A.D.
H: 23 1/4h (59 cm)

Beautiful green patina with cuprite patches.
Very good condition, no restoration.
In the lower part of the bell are several ancient casting flaws.

This remarkably preserved large bronze bell belongs to a small group of artifacts that are considered the largest known bronze objects of the Southeast Asian Bronze Iron Age. The saw tooth design is considered to be one of the "trademark" designs of Dong-son period bronzes, which are named after the type site Dong-son in Northern Viet Nam's Thanh Hoa province.
