David Schneider met Buddhism and calligraphy at the same time in the same place: Reed College, 1969/70. Both traditions were alive and well there because of the extraordinary teacher Lloyd Reynolds. For 50 years Reynolds taught literature, art history, calligraphy and print-making. David now serves Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche as an acharya (teacher) to the international Shambhala community. He is currently on sabbatical from teaching, to devote himself to writing, editing and doing calligraphy.
